Man, what a year 2008 has been. Hope our loyal readers have survived it, and managed to get some golfing in. As I sit here, with the year quickly rolling to an end, I can’t help but think back on the things that have happened that have kept me from golfing. And all I can hope is that 2009 brings a change that allows more time for golfing.
Anyways, from the desk of GolfSwingEurekaReview.com, we wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. May the new year bring you great success and great improvement in your golf game.
In the style of The Tonight Show, we are presenting you with a top 10 list of things to do to help improve your game, courtesy of Brad Brewer, PGA Professional. Be sure to check back each day, as only 1 a day will be posted.
10 See It. Feel It. Do It.
Adopt a simple routine to ensure you are always ready to go. Start behind the ball, visualize the shot. Rehearse the feeling you want in your stroke. The just do it. Remember, fewer swing thoughts and less time over the ball is always the way to go.
9 Track Your Stats.
Practice like a pro by tracking your stats during your rounds. Record the number of fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts and penalty shots. You will identify the strengths and weaknesses of your game with a quick glance of your scorecard.
8 Take A Risk But Don’t Gamble.
Risk shots are ones you have made before and have confidence to do again. A gamble is when you choose a shot you have seldom or never pulled off successfully.
7 Never Go To Dinner With A Bad Putter.
This is an old cliche from the PGA Tour. Don’t expose yourself to the negative replay of someone else’s poor putting round since it can affect your own confidence. How you think is how you will perform. Good putters can also afford to pick up the tab.
6 Get The Ball Past The Hole.
Most golfers don’t hit enought club, leaving approach shots, chips and putts short of the hole. Make it a simple rule to be more aggressive and always get the ball past the hole. After all, never up, never in!
5 Perfect Practice Make Perfect.
Hitting rapid fire without purpose on the range will not improve your swing. Focus on good setup and aim. Place a club on the ground aimed at your target to help align yourself correctly. Drills are great ways to develop correct technique and make sure you always aim at the target.
4 Ease Up On Your Grip.
Most golfers grip a club much too firmly, creating tension and impeding best performance. Feel as though you are gripping a ball to throw it, in control but light enough so you can release it.
3 Fit Your Clubs.
How well could you dance with shoes that don’t fit you? Same applies in golf — your clubs need to fit you to ensure the best lie angle, grip size and shaft for your swing. Get fitted by a PGA professional or certified club fitter.
2 Learn The Fundamentals.
There are thousands of resources readily available to build a solid foundation for your game: instructional books, DVD’s, websites, a 24-hour television channel and local PGA Professionals. Whatever your preferance for learning, keep the thoughts simple and basic. Good shots are predetermined by grip and address position. Start there before venturing into the deep pool of magical swing thoughts.
And the Number 1 Tip for you;
1 Stretch A Little Every Day.
Flexability will allow you to coil up your shoulders and hips to create good acceleration of your arms and club. Get into a daily stretch routine and soon you will begin to add distance to your drives.
Does your swing look like this? I love it when he talks about a golf swing having 24 basic components each having 12-15 variations……and what the heck is a Number 2 Power Accumulator??
Excellent recovery and finish at the end….And if you couldn’t decipher what he was saying, he said you need to get Golf Swing Eureka
