A Simple 11-Step Drill You Can Do Now
July 31, 2007Here’s a simple 11-step drill that you can do immediately to
help your game. This drill will help you getting your stance
and ball in the proper position with correct distance between
you and the ball.
1. Lay the club on the ground pointing straight away from
you, with the clubhead turned, pointing in the direction
you’re hitting.
2. Lay the clubhead so it’s on the opposite side of the ball
from you.
3. Place one finger space between ball & clubhead.
4. Move to the grip end of the club
5. Stand with the grip end of the club between your feet,
with the end of the grip in line with the heels of your shoes.
6. Without moving your feet, pick your club up off the ground.
You’re now set with the correct distance between you and
your ball for that club.
7. WARNING! While this give you proper amount of bend in the
knees, you still must maintain proper balance; keep your back
straight and bend over the ball.
8. The first time you do this, you may feel that you’re too far
away from the ball. Don’t worry about this as this is the setup
of most of the top pro’s.
9. If you feel that it would be better to implement small changes
in your setup, then just gradually increase the distance from the
ball.
10. Practice, Practice, Practice….until you can do this setup without
even thinking about it.
11. If you would like a visual of this, then go to www.golfdigest.com,
and check out some videos - make sure the golfer is using an iron.
Implementing the steps in this drill is a quick way to get on the
correct path to a better, more constent routine and will make your
round of golf more pleasant.
